Effective Treatments for Low Back Pain

Effective Treatments for Low Back Pain

An extensive report published in the medical journal Lancet shows that the most common treatments prescribed for back pain often don’t work as well as expected. That includes steroid injections, epidurals, surgeries, as well as instructions to decrease physical activity.

For some people, these treatments work wonders. But for many, they’re just one in a long line of disappointing, frustrating procedures they have to endure, as outlined in this report from NPR.

One orthopedic surgeon told me personally that 50% of all people that get back surgery will have to come back for pain management or surgery again sooner or later. Another orthopedic surgeon told me that the number is closer to 80% or more. These two doctors do back surgeries every day.

The Lancet report didn’t look at all the available research. There have been dozens of good-quality studies over the past twenty years demonstrating that bodywork techniques are consistently helpful in decreasing or eliminating clients’ back pain. You can find these studies on pubmed.org.

I teach many pain-reducing techniques in the Ray of Light Training Online CE Courses. Click here to see the courses that are offered and to get started. Each class is a series of professionally produced videos that give you everything you need to use the techniques successfully.
