Maintaining balance in hectic times

Amidst all the hectic-ness of the holidays, tons of clients trying to get into the office, several big projects in progress, getting classes ready for next year, and taking care of my mother, it’s been a bit of a struggle to maintain balance at this time.

Fortunately, I took time out to get some great bodywork this past week – from aggressive core rolfing work (thanks Noah) to deep tissue and healing touch (thanks Holly) to Cranial-Sacral work (self-treated).

It’s important at this time to get some nurturing yourself, even as the world is clamoring for you to nurture them. Good bodywork, along with qigong, tai chi, yoga, walking, exercise, meditation, prayer, and quality time with family and friends – that’s what I do to maintain balance.

It’s an ongoing practice – veering off the path here and there, noticing the feeling of imbalance, and doing what’s needed to get back on track. The practice of doing bodywork itself also helps me to stay grounded.

What do you do to stay balanced during these times?
