Strike, Stance, Push and Swing: The Elegant Symphony of Kinetic Chains
In some of the ROLMT classes, we look at gait patterns as a way of assessing what’s going on with a client. One of the things we look for is where there is little or no movement in the body while walking. The entire body gets into the act when we walk. Or it should. If not, there is a dysfunction somewhere that needs to be addressed. This article gives a good detailed view of what is actually happening when we take a step. It also shows which muscles are the prime movers and which are synergists in every segment of that step. (Unfortunately, the picture chosen by the magazine editor doesn’t have anything to do with the article.)
