What happens when muscles in the neck or shoulder areas press against a nerve – Pain!
Of course, the client isn’t going to come into your office and say, “My subscapularis is tight and it’s pushing against one of the posterior nerves from my brachial plexus. Can you fix that?”
Or “My anterior and middle scalenes are hypertonic, causing neuropathy in my hand. Can you release them?” More below…
Here’s a short video about a client of mine who came into the office in pain:
Typically the client notices a problem when they’re trying to do something that they do every day. But now it hurts, and they can’t do it! So they come to you.
And the pain they experience is often not at the spot where the problem is. Right?! In this case, the pain can shoot down into the forearm, wrist, or hand.
Sometimes, a doctor (or a well-meaning friend) will ‘diagnose’ them with carpal tunnel syndrome. And if they get surgery where they cut the tendons under the carpal tunnel, they can wind up with unneeded scar tissue. And the actual problem is still there.
It’s times like this that you want to have effective “power tools” to take care of the problem. The DIT class for Shoulder, Arm, Neck, Head, and TMJ gives you those tools.
With this DIT class, you’ll learn techniques that can enable you to take your client out of pain and restore comfortable function to their joints. So they can do the things they want to do – without pain.
With many of the techniques you learn in this class, you can achieve this successfully in one session. Of course, they’ll be back! Because they know YOU know what you’re doing.
You can register for the Direct-Indirect Technique™ (DIT) class for Shoulder, Arm, Neck, Head, and TMJ by clicking on ‘Live Classes’ or by calling 800-584-1562.
Direct-Indirect Technique™ (DIT) is a highly successful modality that I’ve developed over many years. It incorporates the best Myofascial, Deep Tissue, Neuromuscular, and Cranial-Sacral techniques into one cohesive toolbox that really works.
There are so many people out there with headaches, shoulder issues, carpal tunnel syndrome, tight neck muscles, TMJ dysfunction, and other problems that we’ll work on in class. The good news is that it’s easy to help such clients when you have excellent tools.
We’ll be getting deep into those scalenes, SCM, suboccipitals, deltoids, coracobrachialis, all those tight forearm muscles, rotator cuff muscles, jaw muscles, and more. We’ll also be using some gentle techniques to help the muscles and fascia unwind and to integrate the deep work with the central nervous system.
It’s all about reprogramming the neuro-muscular connection, so that tight muscles learn a new ‘normal’ and don’t rubber band back to where they were so quickly.
Whether it’s brachial nerve impingement, overuse patterns, chronically poor posture, or pain referral patterns, most of our clients have soreness or pain in the Shoulder, Arm, Hand, Neck, Head, or TMJ sooner or later.
So do a lot of therapists. Maybe, it’s time for you to get some work, too.
See you in class.
Stay well,
