I get feedback from students regularly, and I love hearing how the techniques from the ROLMT CE classes are helping their clients and them personally. This is from an email sent to me by Melissa, who encouraged me to share it with you. She is an LMT that took a Cranial-Sacral Therapy class with me recently, and she was clearly in a lot of pain when she arrived at the class. Her comments show three very important things:
– how the techniques can continue to work through the body long after the session (or the class in this case) is over, even if the client is skeptical about the technique.
– how someone totally new to CST can accomplish dramatic improvement with their clients’ condition when they apply the techniques in the way that I teach in the CE classes.
– how CST can be very effectively incorporated into a massage alongside the other wonderful techniques you’re already doing.
Here is what she said:
“I was skeptical about cranial sacral therapy. I only felt something the first day then nothing the other 2 days as a giver or receiver. With that said I did have a change that I didn’t notice until I was driving home.
For over a month I’ve had pain in my tailbone area. Sitting, going to sit, or stand up irritated the condition. I could run (I referee soccer and lacrosse games) and was fine. But when I would get in my car and sit down I would get tremendous pain in my tailbone. It would hurt whenever I sat down and when I got up. It didn’t just happen after I ran. It would hurt while I sat and I would just try to reposition to try to find a spot that it would not hurt as much. I hadn’t had any falls or injuries to that area. The chiropractor, my massage therapist and the doctor didn’t have any answers or relief for me. I actually felt like they were blowing me off about it.
“This past weekend changed it. I didn’t notice till I was driving home on Sunday that my tailbone wasn’t hurting. I wanted to see if it would continue to be okay. I’ve refereed 3 games this week and still no problem. I have driven and sat with no problems. The only thing that could have contributed to this great improvement is the cranial sacral treatment from this weekend. It is the only thing that had changed.
“On Monday I received the most delicious (yes it was “deeelicious” ) massage from Deborah (she was my partner in class). Her touch really impressed me. My body has been in horrible condition so I asked for a 90 minute massage from her. She used cranial sacral therapy in her massage. So she implemented what she had learned immediately in her massages. After her massage I felt the lightest in my body that I hadn’t felt in years. My shoulders were down, hips loose, and my neck could turn. I told her I was ready to go dancing. But had to go referee a boys high school lacrosse game. I’m going back to her in 2 weeks and I can’t wait.”
